Here we have my first submission to DA using a scanner. Now, I enjoy seeing characters in newer styles, so it's only natural that I'd feel like taking a shot at that myself.
The Simpsons is a prime series for that kind of thing, but looking back, my last attempt at doing so... did feel off.
So, this is my attempt at improving what I tried before, only with a more specific instant in mind. Marge is the one character amongst the family that I feel stands out the most, the rest can feasibly be seen as cartoony exaggerations of an actual family. Marge... she has two feet worth of hair standing straight up on her head.
So after that, I choose to do a scene from "Large Marge". Y'know, the one where she accidentally gets boob implants? Specifically, the scene where she has to distract the cops from shooting Stampy the Elephant. And to any heterosexual male, the best form of distraction is of course, boobies (leading to Krusty speaking Stampy's safeword "Magumbo's")
Yeah. Leaving out the fanservice, it wasn't an especially good episode. But it did have a few moments.
The moment I drew is ''just'' before "Marge let her jugs out".
I have to admit, I feel this is better than my last try on the character. Her face looks a hell of a lot more... like an actual face. I kinda wish I'd got the expression a bit more accurate though. Sure, it conveys she's annoyed that she has to do this, but it doesn't quite convey she's also nervous and embarrassed about the current situation.
As for the rest, I really enjoyed making the dress look like it was made out of actual material. The hair was left blank on purpose. I just couldn't think of a way to make it look any good with further detail.
And I tried to make her boobs look... fake. Since they are here. Not really sure I succeeded at that, but hey if I didn't maybe that's more accurate to the episode (even the plastic surgeon who did the operation had to question if they were real or not before realizing).
It's funny, a few years ago, I would have laughed at something like that. Today... I'm still laughing, but the reasons are different. Whereas back than it would have been in a "What? Are you kidding?" kinda way, today it's more "Yeah, she kinda is, isn't she?"
I'm not really sure at what point it was that I started to find Marge among the sexiest of animated TV mothers... and I don't think I'll ever remember, because my current mindset has entirely replaced the old one.
Hmmm... I can *kinda* see what you mean. I think the simplistic nature of the hair might have something to do with it (doesn't look... well, like hair, just looks stuck on).
Still, the facial features feel feminine enough for my tastes... ESPECIALLY compared to the last time I drew her (now THAT was a drag queen).
